Recently I was thinking about how I almost hide my spiritual beliefs from people who I think may not understand them and might think I’m a little crazy, but then a series of synchronicities made me stop and remind myself that I am not crazy for believing in life after death, in believing that consciousness lives on and how we can feel our loved ones on the other side around us. Am I really crazy for believing in reincarnation? I know, there’s no scientific evidence that any of this is remotely possible, but there’s no scientific evidence that it isn’t possible either! Science changes and evolves all the time, so we cannot assume it carries all the answers – the world was flat once upon a time remember. My beliefs come from my experiences, from what I see and feel, not what someone else tells me I should think.

I grew up in a Christian household and had to go to church every Sunday for a little while. I hated it, partly because I was becoming rebellious, but also because I hated having someone else’s belief system pushed onto me, being told what to think. What I was being told just didn’t make sense somehow and I pulled away from it entirely. I personally think Christianity fails because it is so rigid and doesn’t allow for personal experiences that do not fit into its box. But I grew up with the concept of life after death feeling quite normal, so it wasn’t a huge jump, years later, to start exploring concepts such as mediumship and reincarnation. I suppose to some they still feel quite strange?
Think about it though, we cannot see love or sadness, but we feel them just the same. How many poets have tried to find the right words to express the feeling of love and not quite got there somehow? We cannot see energy either, not until we flip that light switch, so is our energy much the same and a medium is some sort of conduit? When we turn the light switch off again that energy is still there, wating for us to utilise once more. When we die perhaps our energy stays with us, it just sits waiting for us to wake up on the other side. This is not such a crazy concept really.
But I am not here to convince or convert anyone. Yes I would love it if more people could just sit for a moment and ponder some of these concepts, but ultimately I wish everyone to have their own mind and not be afraid to express it. We are all different and have all had different experiences throughout our lives, so let’s stop hiding behind the “normal” mask and start being our genuine, crazy selves, and at the same time, make room for others to do the same. With that in mind, from now on I am going to wear my heart and my beliefs on my sleeve and stop trying to fit into some “normal” mould – I invite you all to do the same x
